lunching lady

As the celebration of Lila's birthday week continues, I was remembering back to our first trip out of the house as a family after she was born. I am pretty sure it took over two hours to get her fed, changed, peed on, changed again and one fit from me at how none of my clothes fit. But we made it out. And as we sat in the sun on a restaurant patio I kept wanting to stop every person I saw to point out that we had a baby. We were a family. Just out to lunch like it was no big deal, even though it felt like the most surreal milestone ever.
Ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what's for lunch.
